Biogas generated in the Selisistat treatment of DWW is a combination of methane, carbon dioxide, and trace gases including hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, carbon monoxide, ammonia, and argon (Constant et al., 1989). Methane is released into anaerobic treatment systems in its molecular form by methanogens where it is dissolved into the bulk liquid. There are two main pathways for the production of methane, the first and most prevalent is the splitting of acetate into methane and carbon dioxide by aceticlastic methanogens and the second is accomplished when hydrogen utilizing methanogens use carbon dioxide to oxidize hydrogen and produce methane ( McCarty, 1964). The relative concentrations of biogas constituents will be dependent upon the incoming waste composition, the operational parameters of the anaerobic treatment systems, and the relative abundance of methanogenic species (Noyola et al., 2006). Thermodynamic gas liquid equilibrium as defined by Henry\'s Law will govern evolution of dissolved gases into the reactor headspace and will depend on temperature, partial pressure, and solubility.equation(1)CgCs=Hu
